Hong Kong 2015 - Day 03

A trip to Hong Kong is not complete if you've not gone to Ocean Park.

It's a marine mammal park, oceanarium, animal theme park and amusement park attraction that is uniquely Hong Kong. And even the residents prefer Ocean Park to DisneyLand.

How to get there:

The website has clear directions of getting there. And since we had to get to Admiralty MTR Station, we thought we'd have lunch there.

There was plenty to eat near Admiralty MTR Station but our nose led us to famous Hong Kong-style Fast Food - Fairwood.

Hers was Ah Wood Spaghetti Bolognese

His was Baked Chicken Rice which looked simple and tasted heavenly.

Fairwood Fast Food is at the ground floor of the Bank of America tower beside the exit of Admiralty MTR Station.

When we were done with lunch, we headed to the street level where you'd easily identify where bus 629 is. That's because there's a queue for the bus.

The journey was less than 30 minutes and it wasn't long before we arrived at Ocean Park.

There was plenty of photo opportunities despite the crowd as the park was huge!

We visited the aquarium, and tried to take selfies there like the other tourists:

There were plenty of fishes and it sure beats our Underwater World back home, or even the Siam Ocean World Bangkok.

What's visiting a Chinese country without checking out the pandas.

Same Jiajia and Kaikai but different countries.

Headed to see the Polars & Penguins.

Love the glass floor that resembles ice. Seems like we're walking on ice. We even caught a penguin or 2 swimming past us from below.

Don't you wish you could bring one of these furry little creatures home.

Next we took the Ocean Park Tower - ranked as one of the tallest observation towers in Southeast Asia, it's a gently rotating viewing room that provides 360 degrees of sun, sea and sky.

What a sight indeed.

Our next favourite sight was that of the Jelly Fishes:

It's hard to imagine that these beautiful creatures actually sting and can kill you!

Even the sharks that kills are now being killed for their fins so often that many would pledge to stop eating shark's fin.

Since we've been starting our day late, it wasn't long before it was dark.

Walking through the Old Hong Kong Street to get to the exit of the park:

We had so much fun at Ocean Park, it's hard not to understand why the locals love it more than Disneyland!

Enough about Ocean Park, we haven't had our dinner despite all the fun.

We went searching for this place: 新记餐厅
Located at: Champagne Court, 40-46 Carnarvon Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

Famous for the 豬頸肉芝士撈丁、豬頸肉芝士撈公仔麵 or loosely translated as the Pork Neck Cheese with noodles.

This is how it's served: with plenty of cheese covering the meat.

It was different having cheese with instant noodles, but just think of it as the Chinese-styled pasta.
And the combination is surprisingly good!

We also ordered the Cheesy Fish Balls:

Just looking at the photos makes us want to eat it again!

But we didn't order another serving as we wanted to make room for homegrown famous Hong Kong dessert - 許留山 Hui Lau Shan Healthy Dessert

And that sums up our 3rd  day in Hong Kong.
