Similar to the start of most love story:

Boy sees girl.
Boy likes girl as soon as he sees her.
Except... 

The girl standing there at the Fit Jazz Club ("FJC") monthly meet-up on 5th September 2008 is too pretty to be at a car forum meet-up alone. He had attended countless meet-up but never seen her before. She must be someone else's date, he thought to himself.

His friends had now gathered around this girl. She is new to the FJC meet-up. He was hopeful. He approached her bashfully and offered her the extra Polka Green Tea he bought. His liking in her was obvious to those present. They teased him and paired them up instantaneously.

Being 4 years his senior, she smiled and played along, teasing the bashful young boy who just gave her the green tea.

As they adjourned to another location, he smiled and waved happily as he drove past her white car. How cute, she thought, especially when he bought nuggets to complement the fries she ordered to snack on.


The night then ended and she left, leaving only her email address for him to chat with her on MSN, an online messenger system that was rarely used by anyone.

The weekend went by with her constantly being on his mind. On Monday, he decided to log on to MSN, the messenger that he haven't used in a long time. Alas, there she was online. She initiated a conversation, he was elated.

She was witty and exceptionally funny. He was bashful, even though he was behind the computer. He wanted to see her again. So he asked her to join a small gathering at Carls Jr @ the Playground in 3 nights time.

She turned up for the gathering, looking very tired from a day at work, just because he asked.

He was too shy to start a conversation with her.

She noticed him blushing away each time they talked. She never met any guys who blushes in her presence.

Some friends suggested a movie the next day. He asked her along and went to pick her from work. It was a show that they had both forgotten about except that it was the first time they spent so much time together.

Days went by after the movie and they spend each afternoon chatting online: while she was at work, and while he was in school. Each time, he falls deeper and deeper in love with her. He had to see her again.

He asked her out for dinner on a double date. She came from work once again, looking tired, but visibly happy to see him. He had a gift for her: 2 stressed balls,which they named after his FJC forum nickname: "Max" & "Speed". It was that moment, that they both saw that spark between them.

That night after dinner, they spent hours chatting away at the MacDonalds at Marina Square. The carpark charges amounted to $11.70 that night, but he didn't care... for he was in love. And all he wanted to do each day was to see her smile.

 So, he continues to surprise her with little gifts to make her happy after a long day at work. For seeing her smile is worth his trip from Tampines to Jurong each time he goes to look for her.

From leaving some sweet treats in her favourite color at the rear windscreen of her car; to buying her milo because her braces hurts her too much to have a proper meal. Her smile brings him joy beyond words. And each time she smiles, he blushes.

Such sweet gestures would move the biggest mountains; and indeed, her heart melted. Never did she thought that she would fall for this bashful young boy.


She started to take notice of his likes and dislikes, preparing him sweet meaningful gifts that would make him smile till his eyes go missing, for his smile also brings her joy beyond words.


They were in love.

2 months after their first meeting, the boy couldn't refrain from himself from asking the girl to be his.
She said no.

She was afraid. She had every right to be afraid after hearing the names that others had called her for dating a younger guy. She had every right to be afraid after his friends questioned him for dating someone older.





But he assures her that their love is beyond ages. And that together they will overcome any hurdles & differences they might have.

5 December 2008, they finally got together.

True to his promises, he smooth out every differences along the way, and makes up for things that others might think he is lacking. While she sticks by him, even when her parents objected to her being with someone younger.

They became bestfriends, they became soulmates...

Their love subsequently won her parents' acceptance, and with her parents' blessing, he proposed on 5 June 2010:

 They registered their marriage within that year on 4 December 2010.
