Hong Kong 2015 - Day 01

It's been some time since we travelled further than the neighbouring countries.
This year, we planned a special trip:

Our first trip to countdown to the new year in a foreign land!

And ... We are going to Hong Kong!

It's an adventure venturing into a foreign land where the common language is one that neither of us speaks or understands. But that's what love does: it empowers us to conquer the great unknown!

Starting the trip with our mandatory photo at the airport boarding gates.

It was almost dinner by the time we reached Hong Kong and checked into the hotel.

Decided to grab some desserts at a local store before we head for proper dinner at The Peak.
Near our hotel was the much raved about Fook Yuen Glutinous Rice Balls at Fortress Hill.

It was quite a challenge for us as we figured out the mandarin menu without pictures. But we managed to each order something:

His order came looking very simple. Plain glutinous rice balls with a packet of grounded peanuts.

When eaten together, the fragrance of the peanut mixed with the simple yet tasty glutinous rice balls makes you want to have more.

Her order looked like any other dessert with the sesame filling until you sink your teeth into it.

With the sesame oozing out, the glutinous rice ball remains firm while it's soft to bite. Even the ginger soup base was subtly gingery.

Leaving the shop feeling satisfied that our first bite in Hong Kong was so local and unforgettable, we braved the overcrowded tourist tram to the famous Peak.

Up at The Peak, we found our favourite global family restaurant:
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurant & Bar

Not prize for guessing what we ordered there: the usuals that we always get when we visit the outlet at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Ended day 01 at Hong Kong with a touristy photo at The Peak

Experiencing single digit temperature is still warm with you by my side...
