Telunas Private Island

We first learnt about Telunas Private Island when we first saw a photo from a friend's Facebook post in June 2014.

That photo stole our heart and we set it upon ourselves to find out where and how to get to this place.

Located just a mere 3 hours from Singapore via ferry, Telunas Resort is a Beautiful Private Island and Beach Resort Escape Near Singapore in the Riau Islands of Indonesia. The resort offer the choice between two separate resort options: the flagship Beach Resort, and the new, more exclusive Private Island.

We choose to reside in the Private Island given that it is an all-inclusive Sea Villa at a rather affordable price:

Total bill of S$986 for 2 nights stay in a Sea Villa - all inclusive

It was a cheaper and closer to home option to Maldives!

There is clear instructions from the website on how to get there - http://www.telunasresorts.com/transportation/

The resort even gives clear instructions on the exact ferry time to book:

After booking your ferry, you'd need to send your ferry booking to the resort for them to ensure that you've got it right.

We booked our ferry tickets just days before the trip since ferry ticket price do not fluctuate unlike the airline tickets.

Waiting to board the ferry at HarbourFront

1 hour ferry ride and we arrived at Sekupang Ferry Terminal in Indonesia. In our email correspondence with the resort, they had arranged for their staff to pick us at the ferry terminal and we could identify them by their blue polo tops.

Check out the people in blue polo tops behind us. They are here to pick us!

The journey to the private island resort is another 1.5 hours boat ride via the resort's private boat:

What a view we were greeted with when we arrived:

The jetty which we arrived at.

Since the resort was not fully occupied, our villa was located further from the pool so that we can have a more peaceful time away from the families playing by the pool.

Each villa has a sitting area, a bedroom, a toilet and even a loft bedroom for the kids!

Everything is provided for at the resort:

There's tea, coffee and milo beside a water dispenser which dispenses hot, cold and room temperature water.

There's a pouch that includes sun-block, insect repellent and even after-sun lotion.

The toilet has the basic toiletries that are flora scented.

Hand wash & Lotion.

Body wash, Shampoo & Conditioner

We loved the jasmine scented shampoo!

There's even cold-water and plenty of towels by the pool, you don't even have to ask for it.

The first day there was hard for us to adjust as there was no wifi, no television. We were disconnected from the world! Tough for us city folks.

But it wasn't long before we found things to entertain ourselves:

Massage in your own villa

Sleeping by the pool

You could even jump off the jetty into the water, for those who dared.

And taking many ridiculously beautiful photos - unedited:

What we loved most about the place apart from the beauty, was how great service they had.

Each meal time, you could choose from a small variety of food where the menu was written on a chalkboard.

The staff will explain to you what is each dish and will even remember what diet restrictions you have, if you casually mention it to them.

We shall not overload you with food photos, but the food there is delicious!

After 2 night there, we got accustomed to life at Telunas Private Island that we didn't want to head home.

But, we'd be back again one day soon!
